E-Z Mart Stores, Inc. worked with Alexander Open Systems (AOS) to address two key challenges: expanding their VMware environment to support six new servers, including two large SQL 2012 servers, and retiring a Windows file server by moving shared data to a CIFS partition on their EMC VNX SAN. They also needed additional storage capacity and replication to their DR facility to support growth and improve disaster recovery.

Alexander Open Systems added 3U 15-slot Disk Array Enclosures to both the production and DR SANs, populated them with 15 1TB drives each, created four new VMware datastores, and configured a 1.5TB CIFS partition with synchronization to DR. AOS also provided WebEx training to help the customer manage the new file services. As a result, E-Z Mart was able to cut over file shares to the SAN, expand its virtual server environment, improve storage efficiency through deduplication, and strengthen DR capabilities with minimal disruption and more room for future growth.
