Unifying A Single Point of Activation to Notify Everyone at any Location

Gordon College, a suburban campus of about 2,000 students in Wenham, MA, struggled with fragmented emergency communications spread across multiple systems and departments, which made rapid coordinated alerts difficult—especially with a small police force. Seeking unification, Gordon evaluated solutions and selected Alertus Technologies’ Alertus Emergency Notification System (including Alertus Desktop™ Notification) to bring text/email/phone, website banners, and digital signage under a single activation point.

Alertus Technologies implemented a modular, infrastructure‑leveraging solution: the college deployed Alertus Desktop on all school-owned computers (through the Alertus Desktop Donation Initiative), installed more than 20 Alertus Alert Beacons® and text‑to‑speech speakers in the science center PA, and enabled one‑click activation of phone, email, text, website updates, and digital signage—allowing student dispatchers to send alerts under officer direction. The unified system has been 100% stable in daily/monthly/yearly tests, streamlined operations and response times during drills, and is being expanded incrementally as funds permit.
