A Alertus Technologies Case Study
The Wellington School, an independent K–12 campus in Columbus, Ohio (696 students, 130 faculty), needed a way for nurses to call for help while remaining physically with a student and quickly realized many other areas of the school required an emergency notification upgrade. They engaged Alertus Technologies and shifted from a single panic-button approach to the Alertus System, installing a wall-mounted Alert Beacon and an Alertus activation button in the nursing suite as the first step.
Alertus Technologies then integrated Alert Beacons, Alertus Desktop Notification, the Alertus Activator and Recipient apps, and a Text-to-Speech interface with the school’s paging and door-control systems, enabling mobile-initiated alerts, automated door lockdowns, NWS-linked tornado warnings, and time-framed low-priority doorbell alerts for late drop-offs. The outcome was a multitier, system-wide platform that empowered faculty to initiate immediate alerts, reduced reliance on live paging, automated critical responses (including a successful 6:00 p.m. tornado warning notification), and simplified the crucial first 20–30 seconds of any emergency.
