Randolph Community College in Asheboro, North Carolina, used an older mass notification system that did not integrate well with existing campus technology and assets. The college also found that its previous setup did not make simultaneous activation as efficient as it wanted. After learning about Alertus Technologies from neighboring colleges, the team began looking for a simpler and more streamlined approach.

Randolph Community College started with Alertus Desktop Notification through the Safe in Seconds grant and then expanded its use of Alertus Technologies across campus. The college integrated the system with Rave’s SMS service, Cisco VoIP phones, an outdoor speaker system, access control, and other existing hardware, while also using Desktop Activator, the Activator App, and ThreatWatcher for severe weather alerts. The result was a more comprehensive, cost-efficient mass notification setup that gave RCC single-point activation and two-way communication with students, faculty, and staff.
