Lake City Army Ammunition Plant Receives the Army’s First Audio Visual Notification System

Lake City Army Ammunition Plant (LCAAP) needed a reliable way to warn a large, dispersed workforce in very large, high‑noise ammunition production buildings where personnel cannot carry phones or access computers. Alertus Technologies (working with LEIDOS) was selected to provide an audiovisual notification system (AVNS), deploying wall‑mounted Alertus Alert Beacons®, strobes, LED marquees and text‑to‑speech capabilities to address that specific operational need.

Alertus Technologies installed an integrated, plant‑wide AVNS so employees now receive audible and visual emergency alerts and clear instructions for severe weather, hazardous‑material releases, industrial accidents, active shooter events and other incidents. The system—fielded in several small- and medium‑caliber production buildings—was certified fully operational on April 15 after first‑responder training, marking the Army’s first AVNS in an ammunition production facility and closing a prior communications gap in LCAAP’s primary production areas.
