Humber College, a large public polytechnic in Toronto with 86,000 students and staff, needed a reliable mass-notification solution after studying campus safety in the wake of high-profile campus attacks. To protect its two campuses and streamline emergency communications, Humber selected Alertus Technologies’ mass-notification tools, including desktop alerting and Alertus Alert Beacons, to address rapid campus-wide notification needs.

Alertus Technologies was integrated with Rave’s AppArmour dashboard to deliver Alertus Desktop Notifications, Alert Beacons®, networked VoIP phone alerts, digital signage and planned Text-to-Speech PA integration; about 20 beacons are deployed and alerts can be activated or canceled centrally from AppArmour. The system is used regularly, is praised for ease of use, and has produced measurable outcomes—most notably an incident where a panic button triggered Alertus endpoints and AppArmour and prompted an immediate police response—driving Humber to expand testing with a planned Alertus sandbox lab.
