A Alertus Technologies Case Study
Clark State Community College, a suburban Ohio school serving about 6,000 students across campuses in Springfield, Beavercreek, and Bellefontaine with 255 faculty/staff, identified gaps in its emergency communications in 2016. To expand reach beyond its existing mass-notification tools, Clark State selected Alertus Technologies and deployed solutions including Alertus Desktop™ Notification, ThreatWatcher, planned VoIP phone notification integration, and Alertus Alert Beacons® to override networked devices, leverage the Cisco phone system, and integrate National Weather Service alerts.
Alertus Technologies implemented Desktop Notification to push pop-up alerts campus-wide in seconds and integrated ThreatWatcher for automated weather warnings, with plans to add VoIP phone alerts and grant-funded Alert Beacons to cover gathering spaces. The Alertus system became the college’s one-stop notification hub and functioned as intended during periodic tests and three real incidents (a smoke-activated alarm, a tornado warning, and a nearby police operation), closing the communication gaps Clark State had identified and delivering faster, broader emergency messaging.
