Case Study: Methodist University achieves faster, more reliable emergency notifications with Alertus Technologies

A Alertus Technologies Case Study

Preview of the Methodist University Case Study

A Complete and Comprehensive System Makeover for any Campus Emergency

Methodist University, a small private campus in Fayetteville, NC, faced recurring failures in getting timely emergency notifications to students and staff—mass emails and phone calls bogged down, the outdoor siren had limited range and could not convey instructions, and the campus terrain and dispersed facilities further hindered coverage. To address these gaps they selected Alertus Technologies and its Alertus Emergency Notification System to replace their legacy system.

Alertus Technologies implemented a campus-wide solution including Alert Beacons in buildings, the Alertus Mobile App and Desktop Notification, digital signage and planned cable-TV overrides, high-power text-to-speech speakers, ThreatWatcher weather alerts, and panic buttons. The new Alertus system eliminated the previous delays, produced audible, actionable messages across campus, has been widely adopted via student orientation and app outreach, and performed flawlessly in regular tests and an active-shooter simulation—demonstrating timely warnings and clear improvements in campus safety communications.
