The Wheeler School - Customer Case Study

The Wheeler School, a coeducational private school in Providence, Rhode Island, needed to strengthen security and emergency communication across its main campus and 120-acre farm in Seekonk, Massachusetts. After arriving in 2022, Chief Operating Officer Ian Moorhouse found limited existing security measures and moved quickly to improve access control and build a comprehensive mass notification plan.

The Wheeler School implemented Alertus Technologies across indoor and outdoor locations, including High Power Speaker Arrays at the farm, 30-watt Text-to-Speech Horns on campus, Alert Beacons, LED marquees, desktop notifications, and the AlertAware mobile app. The system has been used for medical emergencies, locating lost students, and Rhode Island’s 15 annual drills, and Moorhouse said it helped him initiate a campus-wide lockdown within seconds during the Brown University incident.
