A Alertus Technologies Case Study
The National Aquarium, a nonprofit in Baltimore’s Inner Harbor that welcomes 1.5 million visitors each year, needed a better way to communicate across its older facility and multiple locations. Before Alertus Technologies, staff mainly relied on two-way radios, which did not fully meet the need to reach all staff and visitors quickly in an emergency.
The National Aquarium selected Alertus Technologies for mass notification and uses AlertAware Mobile and an Alert Beacon in its control center. The system lets the aquarium send messages to staff, volunteers, and visitors, and it has been used to share updates during an incident near a parking garage; the team also added a poll function to quickly check staff status during emergencies.
