Alera Group worked with a Fortune 500 Company, a U.S.-based multinational appliance manufacturer with more than 90,000 employees and over $20 billion in annual sales, to reassess its captive insurance strategy. The company wanted to explore new opportunities to grow and capitalize its multiple captives amid a changing regulatory and business environment, while increasing flexibility and value for the corporate parent.
Using Alera Group’s CARE evaluation and captive refeasibility study, the vendor analyzed the company’s employee benefits and P&C programs, claims, premiums, exposures, capital needs, and risk profile to identify profitable lines for captive funding. Alera Group helped develop a 5-year business plan and implementation benchmarks, enabling the company to add several additional lines to its captives, gain greater flexibility for hard-to-place risks, and achieve all first-year objectives.
