ETB Colombia Offloads LTE Subscribers to WiFi To Provide Consistent Data Coverage

ETB Colombia, the country’s leading communications service provider, needed a way to deliver consistent high-speed data coverage for LTE subscribers despite limited LTE network coverage. To address this challenge, ETB partnered with Alepo and looked to a carrier-grade Wi‑Fi offload solution built on Alepo’s existing AAA infrastructure, with secure SIM-based authentication and integration into its mobile and Wi‑Fi core network.

Alepo deployed a multi-site Wi‑Fi hotspot network in under two months using its 3GPP Carrier-Grade AAA, EAP module, and EMS Portal, integrated with third-party HSS and T-GW systems. The solution improved coverage and customer experience, helped prevent churn, and increased Wi‑Fi data consumption from less than 1GB to 16GB per month, while offloaded mobile sessions rose from 0% to 5% of subscribers within a month of launch.
