Case Study: Scout24 achieves company-wide self-service analytics and a data-driven culture with Alation

A Alation Case Study

Preview of the Scout24 Case Study

Scout24 - Customer Case Study

Scout24, a European group of classified-market brands (AutoScout24, ImmobilienScout24, FinanceScout24 and others), runs 700 active MicroStrategy users with roughly half the company doing self-service analysis and is migrating its data to an AWS-based data lake and cloud Hadoop. The main challenge was cultural: although technology barriers were low, employees struggled to find the right tables, understand how to use or join them, and collaborate across brands — limiting the company’s goal to make everyone data-driven.

Alation’s Data Catalog provided a single discovery interface and a communication hub for documentation on tables, columns and queries, making data context and correct usage easy to find. As a result, more employees can self-serve analytics, queries are improved, cross-brand collaboration has increased, and the catalog has helped drive the cultural change needed for the cloud and data lake migration.
