NYC Long-Term Managed Care Plan Heals Itself of Data Silos and Reporting Discrepancies

VillageCare is a New York City–based nonprofit providing managed long-term care and community health services to vulnerable populations. As part of a push to become more data-driven, the organization struggled with siloed systems, Excel-based reporting and inconsistent metrics that produced reporting disparities and hindered coordinated patient care.

VillageCare implemented the Alation Data Intelligence platform, ran a lexicon-building hackathon, and began cataloging key Redshift, MySQL and care-management datasets—delivering value in weeks and scaling rapidly. Within 18 months they cataloged the majority of key datasets, grew usage to ~15,000 catalog page views per month, established a single source of truth, reduced duplicate Tableau reports, and significantly improved data trust, collaboration and analyst confidence.
