GXS Bank Builds a Strong Data Culture for AI‑Driven Decision-Making

GXS Bank is an all-digital bank based in Singapore, launched in 2022 and backed by Grab and Singtel, serving consumers, entrepreneurs and gig-economy workers. Chief Data Officer Dr. Geraldine Wong set out to make AI a strategic differentiator, but first needed a data-driven foundation: a single source of truth, clear data definitions and ownership, and governance to ensure the high data quality required for trusted GenAI models.

GXS implemented Alation alongside Snowflake, AWS and Tableau to catalog metadata, tag new data, define a glossary, assign data owners and trace lineage, making data discoverable and trustworthy. The initiative gave 300+ employees access to trusted data, supported 3,000+ SQL queries and 5,500+ searches in 12 months, and now serves as the single source of truth for AI-driven decision-making across the bank.
