Grocery Outlet, a Berkeley-based extreme-value grocer with over 185 locations, needed an instant intranet search across more than 200,000 items for store owners and internal staff. Their prior ASP.NET InProc caching was too slow and not suitable for a multi-server environment, producing 1.5–3+ second search times, so they turned to Alachisoft’s NCache to meet speed and scalability requirements.

Alachisoft implemented NCache (using its SQL-like Object Query Language and LINQ integration) so the intranet web service could run distributed, indexed cache searches in parallel across cache servers. The result: search response times dropped to about 0.2 seconds, enabling rapid review of thousands of items, while also providing the scalability and high-availability Grocery Outlet needs as it expands.
