The Boston Red Sox needed a personalized, mobile-first digital workplace to serve a highly variable workforce—about 350 year-round staff and more than 1,000 seasonal, front-line and deskless employees—who work nontraditional hours across Fenway Park. Akumina was engaged to build Home Plate, a mobile-optimized employee hub (powered by the Akumina EXP) to deliver communications, collaboration and the digital tools required by departments from hospitality and operations to HR and marketing.
Akumina implemented Home Plate as a secure, two‑way digital hub with content management and integrations to key applications, enabling employees to access game-day details, launch core apps, and share content across departments. The Akumina solution connected and informed the entire workforce, moved the organization from an email-heavy push model to an engaging pull model, reduced dependency on IT for content updates, and—according to the Red Sox—productivity “soared” while providing the flexibility to meet evolving organizational needs.
