One of India’s largest diversified engineering conglomerates faced a significant obstacle in its plan to implement a unified single sign-on (SSO) solution. Despite having most applications integrated with Microsoft Active Directory and Entra ID, the organization could not integrate its critical SAP GUI thick client with any identity and access management (IAM) platform, a challenge that persisted for nearly a year despite internal efforts. The customer needed a solution from a vendor like Akku that could integrate SAP while leveraging their existing AD infrastructure and ensure proper user deprovisioning.

Akku implemented a custom IAM solution, deploying its platform to act as a service provider. After successfully integrating other applications like SuccessFactors, the Akku team developed a unique custom agent to enable SSO for the problematic SAP thick client. This integration, which other vendors had failed to achieve, allowed the client to seamlessly integrate both SAP Web and SAP GUI into their IAM ecosystem. As a result, Akku provided the client with centralized control, streamlined user access, and automated deprovisioning, accelerating their modernization process and overcoming one of their most complex integration challenges.
