MCM SpA leverages Akka to manage concurrency for intelligent manufacturing

MCM Group, through its IT division MCE, needed a way to build jFMX, an advanced supervisory application for Flexible Manufacturing Systems, that could handle complex, highly concurrent operations across diverse third-party machines on the shop floor. To support its intelligent manufacturing strategy, MCM Group turned to Akka.

Using Akka as the foundation for jFMX, MCM Group was able to model, integrate, and manage large numbers of concurrent applications and connect many heterogeneous process technologies into a single intelligent FMS. The solution improved automation and helped deliver higher quality and productivity, lower costs, less waste, and a fundamentally better way for humans to work on the shop floor.
