John Deere, a global leader in agricultural and construction equipment, faced the challenge of turning the massive volumes of telemetry from modern combines and tractors (often 1,000+ sensors) into actionable insights that improve customers’ return on investment. Without scalable analytics, the sensor, weather, and inputs data could not meaningfully inform decisions about hydration, fertilizer, pesticide application, or equipment operation.

To solve this, John Deere implemented the Lightbend platform to ingest and analyze sensor, weather, and manufacturer data, enabling real‑time optimization of equipment use. The platform drove more efficient crop yields, lower production costs and higher margins, and supported the launch of the Precision Ag service, increasing customer satisfaction, loyalty and follow‑on sales.
