Capital One scales real-time auto loan decisioning with Akka

Capital One needed to modernize its Auto Navigator auto-loan decisioning so customers could get fast, real-time financing results instead of waiting days on an older platform. Using Akka, Capital One set out to handle higher request volumes, improve responsiveness, and support a smoother car-shopping and pre-qualification experience.

Akka helped Capital One build a new architecture for Auto Navigator that processed up to 486 loan applications per minute on a laptop, compared with 100 on the old system, and delivered 180–200 millisecond response times for up to 16 simultaneous users. The platform also cut data processing from more than two days to around one second for pricing and financing results, while enabling no-impact-to-credit-score pre-qualification and helping customers browse nearly four million cars from over 12,000 dealers.
