Making the Switch for a Better Facility Management User Experience

The School District of La Crosse, serving 6,700 students across 16 buildings and 1,510,000 square feet, faced a major challenge: its previous facility management software was so difficult and inflexible that building engineers stopped using it. After seeing AkitaBox at a WASBO event, the district chose AkitaBox’s cloud-based facility management platform to replace the unusable system.

AkitaBox implemented an easy-to-use solution with location-based asset mapping, a simple service request portal, and flexible asset fields, giving staff instant access to O&M manuals, maintenance history, and IT asset details. As a result, the district now tracks 3,069 assets across 21 types, completes about 138 work orders per month, and moved delivery requests from taking days to being completed within hours — measurable improvements credited to AkitaBox.
