FERC moves 90% of databases to Azure with Akira Technologies

The Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC) faced a challenge with its on-premise data infrastructure, which relied on a rapidly growing 14 TiB data warehouse. To meet future demands for faster deployment and quicker analytical reports, FERC's Data Governance Division needed to migrate workloads to the cloud and sought a recommendation for a suitable Cloud Service Provider (CSP). They engaged Akira Technologies to perform this cloud adoption analysis.

Akira Technologies conducted a comprehensive CSP analysis based on factors including workload types, security, compliance certifications, and vendor agreements. They recommended Microsoft Azure as the solution. The top reasons for selecting Azure included its existing use for O365, support for the majority of FERC's SQL databases, strong IAM security tools, and existing enterprise agreements with Microsoft.
