SHOP.COM, part of MarketAmerica and one of the largest online retailers, faced a 25‑year‑old proprietary product data system that treated every SKU as a separate record, creating high overhead, poor product data quality, and slow time‑to‑market. To address this, SHOP.COM selected Akeneo and implemented Akeneo PIM to centralize product information, redefine product–SKU relationships, and support localized product data management.

Akeneo worked with a 10‑person SHOP.COM team to deploy Akeneo PIM in six months for about 10,000 products, integrating ERP and a CMS and enabling bulk updates, imports/exports, and localization for the US, Taiwan and seven other markets. As a result, SHOP.COM reports higher product data quality, reduced overhead and time‑to‑market, daily use by 10 contributors, faster product launches into new territories, and more staff time focused on sales‑driving content.
