Case Study: Rexel accelerates ETIM product classification with Akeneo and Unifai

A Akeneo Case Study

Preview of the Rexel Case Study

Accelerate the categorization and automate the enrichment of 800,000 products in the ETIM classification

Rexel, a leading distributor of electrical equipment with 2.5 million active products, needed a better way to classify and enrich a huge volume of product data for the ETIM standard. Because many suppliers could not provide ETIM classification, Rexel turned to Akeneo and its AI partner Unifai to help automate a process that was too time-consuming and resource-intensive to do manually.

Akeneo and Unifai implemented a solution for normalization, automatic classification, and attribute extraction across Rexel’s catalog, focusing on the 800,000 products missing ETIM classes. The results were strong: Rexel reported 98% accuracy on AI suggestions, 97% matching on more than 20,000 product lines, and Unifai helped identify ETIM classes for 43% of the previously unclassified segment, accelerating classification from 1% to 10% annual growth.
