A Large Healthcare Company was facing the pressure of healthcare digital transformation, including government interoperability mandates, the need for secure API access to patient data, and increasing expectations for faster, more consumer-friendly services. To move beyond siloed IT and support growth, they partnered with Akana and used the Akana platform plus API management services to build a stronger API strategy.

Akana deployed an on-premises API management platform, delivered an HL7 FHIR server implementation, and provided governance and strategy guidance for the company’s API program. The result was a production environment that went live in March 2016, onboarded REST, SOAP, and MQ APIs, and improved time-to-market while strengthening security, compliance, auditability, and interoperability.
