Navan, a global travel, corporate card, and expense management company, wanted to reduce cloud costs while maintaining performance and reliability as traffic grew after the pandemic. To address the challenge of tuning its critical “TA Server” on AWS, Navan turned to Akamas and its AI-powered optimization platform.

Akamas ran automated optimization experiments in a pre-production environment, tuning JVM settings and EC2 instance choices for the TA Server. In fewer than 30 experiments, Akamas identified a configuration that cut costs by about 55%, handled nearly twice the current load, and still met SLOs and internal CPU targets; it also helped Navan validate a move toward AWS Fargate with no major code changes.
