TFI Digital Media Limited, a Hong Kong video-streaming pioneer founded in 2010 and creator of the cloud‑based HERMES OTT platform, needed to expand beyond Hong Kong but could not justify building large-scale delivery infrastructure. The company’s goals were clear: extend global reach, guarantee high‑quality streaming across devices, and get to market quickly—requirements that made partnering with a global CDN essential.

TFI adopted Akamai’s Media Delivery Solutions and the Akamai Intelligent Platform, using adaptive‑bitrate streaming and Akamai’s distributed edge network plus dedicated engineering support to scale without heavy capital investment. The partnership enabled TFI to stream the 35th Hong Kong Film Awards live to 21 territories (over 35,000 unique viewers), improve playback quality worldwide, and rapidly enter new markets across Asia, the Americas and Europe.
