Case Study: KKLab achieves Zero Trust security and flexible threat protection with Akamai Technologies

A Akamai Technologies Case Study

Preview of the KKLAB Case Study

KKLab introduces Akamai’s Zero Trust solution, combining flexibility and protection for both internal and external networks

KKLab, the research-and-development spin-off of KKBOX in Taipei, supports the group’s media and technology services and works with external clients on AI/ML, cloud and SRE projects. After third‑party penetration tests revealed that traditional VPN/password access posed serious risks, KKLab set out to adopt Zero Trust principles — enforcing multi‑factor authentication, tightening application access, and preventing targeted attacks — while preserving developer flexibility.

KKLab deployed Akamai Enterprise Threat Protector and Enterprise Application Access, completing a proof of concept in 30 minutes and rolling out lightweight VM/Docker connectors to secure access to 100+ internal apps. The solution filters malicious destinations, enforces continuous verification, and now automatically blocks about 100 malicious emails per day, strengthening security without disrupting workflows and positioning KKLab to offer its Zero Trust expertise as a service.
