Businessolver provides Benefitsolver, a web-based benefits administration platform used by thousands of employers and millions of employees to complete complex annual open-enrollment processes. During condensed enrollment windows the site sees massive traffic spikes (millions of page views and tens of thousands of concurrent users), and after a recent infrastructure rebuild Businessolver experienced slow page render times that risked higher call volumes and poor customer experience. The company needed faster, more scalable performance, lower server load, and a trusted partner to protect sensitive data.

Businessolver partnered with Akamai and deployed Akamai’s Web Application Accelerator to handle SSL, cache static content, and route around upstream network issues. Akamai offloaded the majority of traffic (about 85%), cut customers’ bandwidth needs roughly in half, and dramatically reduced CPU utilization on Businessolver’s load balancers. As a result the Benefitsolver application consistently meets sub‑half‑second page render goals, scales reliably during peak enrollment, and delivers a smoother, more secure experience for customers.
