Bangkok Bank, Thailand’s largest commercial bank with branches and a growing international network across 13 economies, was expanding its regional and global services and needed to ensure fast, reliable, and secure online access for a larger, more dispersed customer base. Rising traffic from web and mobile channels, frequent peak-season spikes, and the risk of public-site load affecting transactional services meant the bank required a platform to scale capacity on demand, improve overseas performance, protect against security threats, and isolate public and transactional traffic.
Akamai’s intelligent edge/CDN platform provided that solution, offloading up to 90.5% of traffic and handling peaks of 31,083 page views per second, accelerating page loads by about 50% and delivering a 453% global performance gain at origin. Akamai also blocked malicious scraping, separated public and transactional workloads, improved security and 24/7 availability, and reduced infrastructure costs—enabling Bangkok Bank to expand internationally while delivering faster, more secure web and mobile banking experiences.
