TV2 Norway Enhances Development Environment while Lowering Risks and Controlling Costs

TV2 Norway, the country’s largest commercial television station and provider of TV2 Play, needed to support fast-growing streaming operations while reducing the complexity, cost, and risk of its fragmented data infrastructure. The company’s engineers were using multiple open-source tools across teams, creating siloed systems, high cognitive load, and limited oversight, especially around Apache Kafka® and other data services.

TV2 chose the Aiven Platform to build a standardized internal development platform across clouds, using managed open source services including Apache Kafka®, Cassandra®, PostgreSQL®, OpenSearch®, MirrorMaker 2, and Kafka Connect. With Aiven, TV2 gained a single control panel, one bill, and one SLA, while improving developer productivity, enabling self-service environments for 35 teams and about 150 developers, and maintaining 99.99% uptime. The result was better cost control, reduced risk, and more time for innovation rather than infrastructure management.
