A Aiven Case Study
Swift Solutions, a Jakarta-based logistics company recently acquired by Tokopedia and serving fast‑growing Indonesian markets, faced rapid scaling demands (15‑minute deliveries, tens of millions of orders) while struggling to find DBAs and avoid outages. To stabilize and scale their stack without locking into a single technology, they chose Aiven, initially adopting Aiven for MySQL and Aiven for Redis (with plans to add Aiven for PostgreSQL and Aiven for Apache Kafka) as managed, hosted data infrastructure.
Aiven migrated Swift’s MySQL and Redis with no downtime and integrated with the company’s Kubernetes and Terraform workflows (using the Aiven Kubernetes Operator and Aiven Terraform Provider), delivering much higher reliability, fewer operational headaches, and faster feature development. The move cut total cost of ownership dramatically (Alfi Zainuddin estimates Aiven’s TCO at about 10% of their previous setup, and savings of 30–40% compared with hiring a trained DBA), while enabling real‑time data plans and the capacity to scale to 25–45 million orders.
