Fast-Growing Startup Hookdeck Powers Cloud Data Infrastructure with Aiven Services

Hookdeck, a fast-growing webhook infrastructure startup, needed to scale its cloud data platform as webhook volume and historical data rapidly increased. Using Aiven services, including Aiven for PostgreSQL, Aiven for Apache Kafka, Aiven for Apache Kafka Connect, and Aiven for ClickHouse, it set out to handle ingestion, storage, and analytics more efficiently while avoiding the limitations and rising costs of relying on PostgreSQL alone.

Aiven helped Hookdeck move historical and analytical workloads into Aiven for ClickHouse, stream data reliably with Kafka, and manage metrics with additional Aiven services. The result was a 30x performance uplift for dashboard queries, with histogram loads dropping from about 30 seconds to under a second, while storage needs were cut roughly in half from 1.5 TB to 700 GB. Aiven also gave Hookdeck a scalable, highly available infrastructure with 99.99% uptime and simpler operations through consolidated management and support.
