Wyggeston & Queen Elizabeth 1 College - Customer Case Study

Wyggeston & Queen Elizabeth 1 College, a sixth form college for 16–18 year-olds, needed to replace an aging access control system that was no longer supported and had become a risk. The existing setup was a patchwork of two systems based on magstripe cards, and the college wanted a modern, reliable, easy-to-manage solution with card production and temporary card issuing capabilities. AIT was selected to deliver the new access control solution.

AIT implemented a flexible access control system combining online and offline doors, supporting a wide range of entry points including classrooms, external entrances, server rooms, lifts, turnstiles, parking barriers, and disabled access gates. The solution also integrated card production, temporary card issuance, and print management into a one-card system for students. As a result, the college extended access to more doors, simplified administration by working with one supplier, and resolved early teething issues through strong project planning and a proof-of-concept trial, delivering better value than the cheapest alternative.
