To reduce this substantial overhead and curb waste, the college partnered with vendor AIT (Altman Integrated Technologies) and its partner Integrated Card Solutions (ICS) to implement a print and copy management technology system.

The solution involved installing a tailored system combining Pcounter software with PC206 and HS600 hardware terminals to control and track all activity. This allowed for cost-effective routing of print jobs and required user authentication via card. The implementation by AIT and ICS led to an immediate 25% reduction in print volume, generating estimated annual savings of £50,000. The project also significantly reduced paper waste and energy consumption, with the college planning to roll out the system to all its sites for further savings.
