A AIT Case Study
Northumbria University, a large multi-campus institution with about 24,000 students and over 2,000 staff, needed a coordinated way to manage student printing across its teaching labs and open access areas. Prior to the project, print policies varied widely by school, with inconsistent access, charging methods, and high administrative overhead. Vendor AIT provided the Pcounter print management solution to address these challenges.
AIT implemented Pcounter across the university to centralize print accounting, costing, and control, including support for multiple Windows NT domains, cash/card payment options, print release, and copier accounting. The result was a university-wide print policy based on real usage data, more efficient management of printers and consumables, and scalable cost recovery. Northumbria University reported processing over 2 million print jobs per year, with recovered cash reinvested into the service.
