City College Southampton, a UK college with 640 staff and around 7,000 students, needed better control over printing and copying across staff and student networks. Working with AIT, it looked to extend its existing Pcounter setup beyond student printing to monitor staff usage as well, reduce paper consumption, and encourage use of the college intranet.

AIT implemented Pcounter across staff and student domains, integrated Sharp MFPs, added Mifare card readers for quick login, enabled web balance display and popup cost warnings, and introduced network scanning control and reporting. The rollout was straightforward, and the college achieved central monitoring of all output, a 40% reduction in printing, increased intranet use, and lower helpdesk demand, while also improving user convenience and control.
