Walgreens integrated Urban Airship’s push messaging, location services and APIs into its mobile app—adding automated refill reminders, refill-by-scan ordering, and multi‑channel alerts (push, text, email). The approach reduced customer wait time, increased refill follow‑through and medication adherence, and improved operational efficiency; Walgreens is now expanding push use to pickup alerts, pill reminders, photo notifications and in‑app coupons.
