Case Study: John Wiley & Sons increases app opens and researcher engagement with Airship (Urban Airship)

A Airship Case Study

Preview of the John Wiley & Sons Case Study

Transforming the Research Experience by Delivering Catered Content to the Research Community

Wiley, a global provider of knowledge and knowledge‑enabled services, needed a better way to get timely, relevant research to scholars amid a vast library of books and journals. Their goal was to boost digital presence with mobile apps, send immediate alerts, and personalize delivery so researchers could stay current without digging through volumes of content.

Wiley built more than 200 subject‑specific apps and implemented a detailed tagging strategy—authors apply an average of five to six tags per item—so Urban Airship segmented push notifications can deep‑link tailored content to interested users. The solution, which includes iCloud sync across devices, increased app opens and time spent in app (average sessions 15–20 minutes) and created a seamless, personalized research experience.
