South by Southwest (SXSW), the annual 10-day Austin festival that brings together music, film and technology across more than 6,000 events, wanted to simplify its Guest Pass program and reduce the operational costs and logistical burden of printing, delivering and troubleshooting physical wristbands.
SXSW implemented Airship Mobile Wallet linked to the SXSW GO app so attendees could register online, download mobile passes and receive location-triggered alerts, while organizers could update passes in real time. The shift streamlined operations and boosted engagement, driving a 25% increase in credentials distributed, a 54% drop in credential costs and more than 415,000 location-triggered notifications.
