SvenskaFans Brings Segmented Team Updates to Fans

SvenskaFans is a Stockholm-based sports media company (founded in 2000) that delivers hockey, football and other sports news via a mobile app. Facing the need to give on-the-go users access to timely content, increase app usage and grow audience and ad impressions, the team also had to re-engage users who often downloaded the app but forgot to open it — without overwhelming them with notifications.

SvenskaFans lets users pick favorite teams and leagues and uses highly segmented push notifications (about three per week: team updates and breaking news) to drive relevance and engagement. That approach produces measurable spikes in time spent in-app and has supported more than 20,000 weekly unique visitors and about 100,000 total installs across iOS and Android.
