myUWindsor app improves students’ university experience

The University of Windsor needed a better way to connect with students, improve the campus experience, and boost engagement for recruitment and innovation. Their myUWindsor app—used by nearly 15,000 students—required reliable, targeted messaging so students would see important course, schedule and campus updates without sifting through email.

By integrating Urban Airship push notifications with the university’s CLEW learning platform and using audience segmentation, instructors, the registrar and student affairs can send timely, targeted alerts across iOS and Android. The approach proved highly effective: over 84% of students have the app, 67% of app users opt in to notifications, and notifications drove 35% of app opens, delivering cost-effective, cross-platform engagement even when the app isn’t actively in use.
