AMC Theatres Incorporates Airship Into Its Winning Mobile-First Strategy

AMC Theatres, the world’s largest movie exhibitor with nearly 1,000 theatres and more than 350 million guests annually, revamped its mobile app in 2016 to let customers browse showtimes, buy tickets and order concessions—integrating the experience with its AMC Stubs rewards program used by over 20 million members. To build on early success, AMC aimed to boost mobile engagement and grow in‑app ticket and concession sales.

AMC implemented Airship to deliver automated welcome flows, preshow and location‑based (geofenced) push notifications, rich media messages and deep links, and worked with Airship Professional Services to shape its roadmap. The result: higher in‑app ticket and concession conversions, increased app traffic from targeted offers and release alerts, and improved retention through timely, automated messaging.
