CIMA+, a Canadian consulting engineering firm, faced the challenge of making road safety assessments more proactive. Traditional methods relied on historical collision data, which is reactive by nature. For a Transport Canada research initiative, CIMA+ needed connected vehicle data to analyze driver behavior and safety risks across entire networks. They selected AirSage for its Safety Events and movement data to meet this need.

AirSage provided the high-quality connected vehicle data that enabled CIMA+ to enhance its safety analysis. The solution improved the calibration of Safety Performance Functions and allowed for the proactive identification of potential safety risks through the detection of frequent harsh braking and acceleration events. CIMA+ also used AirSage data to create network-wide operating speed maps and interactive dashboards, successfully developing new proactive safety methodologies for partner municipalities.
