A Airgap Case Study
Fortune 500 American Insurance Company worked with Airgap to address a critical ransomware risk: while they had data backups in place, they needed stronger assurance that attackers could not compromise the backup and recovery environment itself. In a hybrid-work setting with more remote access and BYOD use, the company needed tighter cyber hygiene and least-privilege access to its backup and recovery server, including the backup and replication console.
Airgap implemented its SAA Zero Trust secure access solution to protect the insurance company’s backup and recovery services, enforcing MFA SSO, dual user-and-device trust, role-based least privilege, session recording, and encrypted direct access to applications without exposing the network. With Airgap, the customer gained safer remote and on-site access to critical systems, better auditability, and reduced risk of unauthorized job changes or restores, though the case study does not provide quantified performance metrics.
