Prominent Digital Printer Launches Agentless Segmentation in Response to Ransomware Attack

Repacorp, a major digital printing operation serving short and medium runs of custom and RFID labels, shrink sleeves, flexible packaging, and wide-format products, turned to Airgap after a November 2020 ransomware attack disrupted its manufacturing lines. The company’s environment was highly flat, with users, telephone systems, and mission-critical machinery all on the same network across five sites, and it had not separated IT and OT traffic.

Airgap implemented its Zero-Trust Isolation Gateway as a pilot at one manufacturing location, deploying two gateways on Hyper-V for high availability and active-hot standby failover. The agentless segmentation solution provided device-level monitoring, intra-VLAN visibility, user classification, quarantine controls, and ransomware kill-switch protection, helping Repacorp prevent repeat attacks without operational disruption. The pilot was successful enough that Repacorp planned to expand Airgap’s zero-trust platform to its remaining four sites.
