Case Study: Affinity achieves real-time spend visibility and eliminates expense reports with Airbase

A Airbase Case Study

Preview of the Affinity Case Study

How Affinity uses Airbase to automate away low value, manual accounting tasks

Affinity, a San Francisco–based startup of 50–100 employees, needed a full view of company spending to set budgets, analyze trends, and predict burn. Prior to adopting Airbase’s spend management platform, employees charged expenses on personal cards and submitted reports via Expensify (synced to QuickBooks), which led to delayed insight, manual reconciliation, and limited visibility across departments.

Affinity implemented Airbase with virtual cards, pre-approval workflows, automated routing and GL coding rules, removing the need for monthly expense reports and turning post‑spend questions into collaborative planning. With Airbase, Affinity eliminated expense reports, saved an estimated 3–5 hours per week on manual reconciliation, improved departmental spend visibility, and streamlined month‑end close so finance can focus on forecasting and fundraising.
