Tata Steel Makes Strides Towards an Autonomous Supply Chain Powered by AIMMS Technology

Tata Steel, a leading global steel producer with operations in 26 countries and over 65,000 employees, set out to accelerate a company-wide digitalization agenda focused on supply chain planning. Relying largely on spreadsheets and isolated point solutions, the company needed a scalable platform to support AI-driven optimization and move toward a more automated, enterprise-wide planning process.

Tata Steel chose AIMMS to develop up to 11 optimization models across ten departments to optimize production capacity, raw-material allocation, plant yields and inbound/outbound logistics, and is building an API to load ERP data automatically into those models. The implementation provided a scalable path to automation, delivering lower costs, greater efficiency and faster, better decision making while advancing the company toward an autonomous supply chain.
