Papyrus adopts regional supply chain planning with AIMMS

Papyrus is a leading European merchant in paper, facility supplies and industrial packaging, with EUR 1,604 million in sales (2013), operations in 20 countries and about 2,000 employees serving more than 68,000 customers. The company faced a fragmented, regionally organized network of local warehouses and multiple, differently configured planning systems, and needed to redesign its supply chain to respond faster to demand while maintaining service levels and reducing costs.

Using AIMMS, Papyrus evaluated scenarios and, within six months, rolled out a centralized supply chain control tower to consolidate forecasting, demand planning, safety-stock optimization, replenishment and purchase-order optimization. The central planning team now runs a daily planning and optimization cycle, resulting in lower inventory, slightly fewer stock locations, a leaner physical network and reduced inventory-management costs.
